New Director At Hyde
School
Jeffrey Burroughs is the new Director of Admissions at Hyde
School in Bath, Maine, replacing Laurie Hurd. Laurie will
direct the new Hyde magnet school which is scheduled to open
this September under the auspices of the New Haven public
schools. This is The Hyde Foundation's second private/public
school partnership. The first one was last year's "school
within a school" for a hundred students at Gardiner (ME) High
School. Laurie will applying Hyde's independent school culture
to the public school environment.
Programs Introduce
Twelve Step Recovery Into Their Curricula
Last month Tom Croke reported that CEDU Middle School, Hilltop,
and the original CEDU Secondary School, have all introduced
Twelve Step recovery into their curricula. He has since learned
that CEDU Middle School has dropped this, although its permanence
at CEDU High School and Hilltop has been reaffirmed. The reason
for dropping at the middle school was the maturity level of
the students and the amount of participation. We are assured
that integrating twelve step work with the CEDU curriculum
is now part of the CEDU philosophy.
Met Up With Sow Grizzly
With 3 Cubs
John Mercer of Mission Mountain School in Montana was on his
horse named "Jack" with his dog named "dog" when he met up
with a sow grizzly with 3 cubs. They're all fine.
Galena Ridge Expands
Dining Room
Paul & Cheri of Galena Ridge in Montana have a hole in
the ground between the house and the trout pond. This is for
the dining room expansion with floor to ceiling windows so
the kids can dine inside but feel like they're outside. Maggie,
their retriever now has seven cute puppies. Paul and Cheri
are already looking for homes for them, since the pregnancy
was unplanned. Paul and Cheri are talking about helping Maggie
deal with the related issues.
Sandy Seeley Leaves
Outward Bound
Sandy Seeley, Admissions, has left Pacific Crest Outward Bound
to be a mother and go back to school.
New Director At Mount
Bachelor Acadmey
Tim Brace, former Headmaster at The CEDU School, Running Springs,
CA and Rocky Mountain Academy, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, accepted
the position of Director of the Mount Bachelor Academy in
Bend, Oregon. Tim will be working with Executive Director
Linda Houghton and staff.
