Obsidian Trails
The Outdoor School
Gregory Bodenhamer
Bend, Oregon

For Immediate Release

Obsidian Trails is an outdoor school/wilderness therapy program designed to help temperamentally difficult teenagers including those with ADD, ADHD, ODD and other neurological impairments.  Obsidian Trails, is a registered Oregon private school, located in Bend, Oregon.  Further information is available on the internet at www.obsidiantrails.com.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Monday September 18, a student stopped breathing for undetermined reasons.  CPR was administered immediately by trained staff and Airlife of Oregon was called following established emergency protocols.  The student was airlifted to St. Charles Hospital and subsequently died while undergoing emergency treatment.

An autopsy is currently being performed to determine cause of death.

One of our staff is under investigation in the accidental death of the student.  Our own investigators has shown that all safety procedures and protocols were followed and we are confident that our staff member will be vindicated.

While we are devastated by this tragedy, we are most immediately concerned for the family of the student, and our existing students.  Additional staff, licensed therapists, and our Clinical Supervisor are assisting in this matter.
