Our son has been at Casa by the Sea, a facility run by WWASP, since September 26, 2002. When we had him escorted to Casa by the Sea, he was a confused angry 15 year old boy. He was angry at us because his relinquishment by his birth mother made him feel worthless. So he took it out on us and we didn't know how to help him. We had attended many parenting classes and our son had been seeing a psychologist. Nothing worked, he didn't want to tell us why he felt the way he did.

We tried medication and it made him a zombie. If he came home in September from the hospital, there was no way that we could tell if he took his medications. At Casa by the Sea he has learned to open up and talk about what caused his anger at us. We saw our son at Casa on March 28, and 29, 2003 and got a tour of the facility and met the staff. Our son can now talk to us about things that matter to him. He is learning to be accountable for his actions. If he chooses an action that is inappropriate, he gets an immediate consequence. My husband and I have also attended the seminars recommended by the program. I have changed from a frighten mother to one who is not afraid to speak her mind and be a loving wife and friend to everyone that I met. I have my power back.

Our son is happy in the program and is making steady progress. He is learning to be a leader and a problem solver. He will be a powerful young man when he graduates from the program! And we, his parents, will be able to love and support him in his endeavors!
