English Teacher

The King George School is a year-round private co-educational visual and performing arts personal growth college preparatory boarding school for bright and creative students who have not found success in more traditional academic environments. Our mission is to provide a supportive educational environment for creative adolescents where they can build a foundation of positive choices and experiences that will contribute to future success.

We have an opening (anticipated) for an ENGLISH TEACHER who can reach our students in creative and non-traditional ways.

THE POSITION:
The English Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering age and ability appropriate curriculum to high school aged students. The English Teacher will work actively and collaboratively with other teachers, program staff, students, and parents to support the growth of each student. The English Teacher will be willing and able to teach standard high school English courses, and also be willing to design new courses to meet the needs of our students. The English Teacher will have the ability to reach all students and present lessons in an exciting and informative fashion. This position will have some liberty with curriculum design and development. Class size limited to twelve students.

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate must be at least 21 years of age, and willing to work in our year-round alcohol, drug, and tobacco-free environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with relevant experience; preference given to Master's level or higher education. Candidates should be charismatic, magnetic, creative, energetic, caring and compassionate, while at the same time being flexible, and professional.

School Nurse/RN

Our mission is to provide a supportive educational environment for creative adolescents where they can build a foundation of positive choices and experiences that will contribute to future success.

We have an immediate opening for a School Nurse/RN.

Responsibilities:
The RN will maintain positive interaction with staff, students, parents, and professionals (the "customers"). The RN will demonstrate a strong work ethic and develop and maintain a positive, healthy relationship with students, serving as a role model.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate and organized records for each student
  • Schedule caregiver appointments as necessary, and make transportation arrangements for appointments
  • Keeps parents, team leaders, and other interested parties apprised of student's health
  • Manages medication administration: including dispensing (according to physicians orders), documentation, maintains adequate supplies, conducts weekly pill counts, monitoring for side effects and communicating any medication reactions to prescribing physicians.
  • Helps determine the need for further services including physical examination, immunizations, and supply of medication.
  • Assists admissions by coordinating proper health clearance for enrollment
  • Provides staff training regarding student health services, medication administration, and other related topics
  • Attend to student and staff on campus with minor injuries and illnesses
  • Adheres to and ensures the facility adheres to all State and Federal rules and regulations relating to healthcare & medical records
  • Adheres to and ensures the facility adheres to all licensing body rules and regulations
  • Provides other administrative duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Dean, or Head of School
  • Assists the Risk Manager in oversight of the T.E.R.M. program
  • Works with Registrar to manage active and archived student health records
  • Responsible for the integrity of the data in the student information system
  • Assist in maintaining contact with families, teachers and other customers
  • Performs other duties as required, or as assigned

Requirements:

  • BSN or BA in related field required
  • Licensed or License eligible in the state of Vermont
  • Experience supervising others a PLUS
  • Self-motivated and flexible - adaptable to changing requirements / situations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely and positive manner
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Drug screen, background check, and fingerprinting required
  • Valid driver's license required
