Our Culture- We practice what we preach. You will find the same
values that we teach the students practiced at all levels within
the company, from your immediate supervisor up to the executive
director. Our culture is based on honest and open feedback, personal
and collective wellness, your personal and professional growth,
the company's constant improvement, compassionate care, safety,
courage, and an overall dedication to professional excellence.
With each of these values in action at all times, you will find
a relaxed and professional work environment; it feels like a healthy
family around here.
People who work here - As a Therapist, you are the team leader,
collaborating with passionate and well trained field instructors.
You are supported a clinical that values your unique contributions
and style. The logistics department frequently runs necessary supplies
into the field and makes sure nothing goes awry. A nurturing medical
department, an experienced mechanic who keeps our vehicle fleet
in top form and people driving safely, and a crew of hard-working
office staff (all of whom have experience in the field) complete
the picture. You are part of a team, and it feels great.
Environment and Recreation - our area in Utah includes Capital
Reef National Park (www.capitalreef.org) and offers ample outdoor
activities; it is also an inexpensive place to live with a comfortable,
rural atmosphere. Many of our instructors choose to live here and
in nearby Moab-a Mecca of mountain-biking, rock-climbing, and white-water
sports-which is only 2 hours away. Major cities like Salt Lake
and Las Vegas are within a half-day's drive, as are all of southern
Utah's world-famous parks (www.utah.com/destinations).
Growth, Learning, and Career Support - We strongly support career
planning with our Individual Growth Plans, in which you can work
with a mentor to lay out a personalized path of development during
and after your employment at Aspen. Being part of a larger group
of programs, there is ample opportunity for movement around the
country in many different jobs. Valuable experience you can gain
while working here includes a Professional Wilderness Therapy Instructor's
Training Course, the opportunity to engage in a clinical mentorship
with a licensed therapist, experiential teaching, and strong leadership
skills applicable to any line of work. We also offer an employee
assistance fund for your professional development and self-care,
and opportunities for free personal therapy through our EAP. After
all, if we aren't willing to do personal work, why should we expect
our students to?
Benefits - We offer health, vision, and dental insurance, a retirement
plan, subsidized housing, retention bonuses, a possible vehicle
stipend, pro-deals, therapy and wilderness skills training, Wilderness
First Aid, paid time off, resource library and 24-hour staff lounge
with internet access, computer, scanner, color printer, phone,
satellite television, full kitchen and two full baths. Pay is competitive
for the industry and we honor and reward therapists who are coming
to us with previous experience. Up to 26 days per year , paid time
off, 4 day work schedule, $35-$65k/year.
Imagine this: Your primary tools for creating change and healing
are the integration of wilderness, education and therapy. You do
this by guiding highly skilled Wilderness Therapy Field Instructors.
You are working with people who are passionate and knowledgeable
about the wilderness, personal healing and experiential education.
You have a strong team of professionals to work with. And an impressively
beautiful landscape.
The clinical team at Aspen Achievement Academy values and embraces
each therapist's unique contribution and style. It's a gathering
of exceptional people that you don't find in a traditional work
setting who are here to work as a team of professionals, enjoying
the collaborative and mentoring relationships that wilderness therapy
fosters. The Clinical Director is also there to help you with challenges
and find ways to make your work experience the best it can be.
You visit your group twice a week for individual and group therapy,
check in on the progress of each student, learn how to use the
group dynamics, the educational curriculums and the wilderness
experience to develop creative interventions, and hopefully take
the time to enjoy the wilderness experience yourself. You may never
have a better office.
Family therapy is integrated into the model as you talk with families
each week, as well as other professionals involved with each case.
Each family is required to be doing their own therapy while their
child is in the program, as well as having the opportunity for
psycho-education through our Family Support Services about many
different relevant issues. To reunite with their child, they spend
three days in the wilderness to meet the child, under the guidance
of a Marriage and Family Therapist and Family Life Educator.
Requirements: Drivers License, Licensed or license-eligible
in the state of Utah as a mental health therapist (LMFT, LCSW,
PhD,
LPC).
