CALO (Change Academy Lake of the Ozarks) is a residential treatment center for adolescents struggling with core issues of trauma, attachment and mood regulation.  We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.  CALO believes in providing high quality, innovative treatment within a compassionate environment.  Building healthy, reciprocal relationships with our youth is a special focus of CALO employees.

We currently have an opening for a therapist to join our clinical team. This is a full-time, salaried position which includes a competitive salary (negotiable) and benefits package (insurance, PTO). We have a dynamic, fun, and enthusiastic team.  There are options for advancement, the opportunity to become an expert in the field of attachment and trauma work, flexibility in work hours, professional development and CEU’s, team-building experiences, and full-time therapists will be issued a CALO cell phone and laptop to help them complete their job.

Eligibility for this position requires a master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a behavioral health-related field.  This includes graduate degrees in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.  All clinicians must have current, unrestricted licensure within their professions (LAC, LPC, LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, LPE, etc.) by their respective State Boards and be eligible for and acquire licensure in the state of Missouri upon hire.  Applicants must pass a drug-screening and back ground check.  We will also consider provisional, unlicensed, recent graduates, or intern/practicum students.  Relocation assistance is available.

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, therapists are responsible for the following:

  • Maintain a caseload of up to 9 students.
  • Provide individual, group and family therapy to students and families.
    • 1-hour individual, 1-hour family and lead/co-lead 3 groups a week.
  • Develop, maintain, and update treatment plans for each student.
  • Document therapy sessions as required by CALO.
  • Develop monthly treatment team summaries for each student.
  • Maintain regular contact with parents, referral sources, and payment sources as needed.
  • Document important events and other items to maintain compliance with the state of Missouri and JCAHO.
  • Provide direction and training to residential staff assigned to work with students on caseload.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, clinical meetings and supervision as scheduled.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in parent training days as needed.
  • Careful adherence to all CALO policy and procedure.
  • Support of the CALO mission statement and by extension, the general program structure, guidelines and standards.
  • Make personal life choices which are healthy, promote a positive role model for students and maintain healthy boundaries with students and families.

Recreational Therapy Supervisor

CALO (Change Academy Lake of the Ozarks) is a residential treatment center for adolescents struggling with issues of emotion, trauma, and attachment.  We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.  We have a dynamic, fun, and enthusiastic team, and offer a competitive salary (negotiable) and benefits package (insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, etc.).  CALO believes in providing high quality, innovative treatment within a compassionate environment.  Building healthy, reciprocal relationships with our youth is a special focus of CALO employees.  The therapeutic recreation department utilizes local natural resources to provide therapeutic opportunities for our students.  Biking, rock climbing, water skiing, wake boarding, and fishing adventures are used to help students learn the importance of healthy relationships within their lives.  This is truly an adventure based model for Recreational Therapy.

Eligibility for this position requires a Therapeutic Recreation Degree from an accredited university and the possibility of acquiring a CTRS certification. 

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Recreational Therapy Supervisor will be responsible for assessing students’ recreational patterns, planning productive and exciting recreational therapy groups, implementing the plans utilizing therapeutic metaphors, and then evaluating student progress.

Program Director Job Opportunity

CALO (Change Academy Lake of the Ozarks) is a residential treatment center for adolescents struggling with issues of emotion, trauma, and attachment.  We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.  We have a dynamic, fun, and enthusiastic team, and offer a competitive salary (negotiable) and benefits package (insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, etc.).  CALO believes in providing high quality, innovative treatment within a compassionate environment.  Building healthy, reciprocal relationships with our youth is a special focus of CALO employees.  The Residential Coaching department, which the Program Director would supervise, has the unique opportunity to provide treatment that is specific to our model and the needs and issues of our students.  Specific training is provided so that we can truly focus our interactions on a relational model rather than traditional behavior modification techniques. 

Eligibility for this position requires experience within the field.  A strong clinical background is encouraged but not required.  As the Program Director you will be supervising, managing and training the milieu efforts of the front line staff.   You must be able to adopt CALO’s vision and lead and train others so that they can see and understand how they play a role in the success of our facility and in the lives of the students we mentor.
