Yoga For Eckerd At Deer Lodge

Rebecca Dennis, director of Laughing Bodies yoga and pilates studio recently visited the Eckerd Academy at Deer Lodge campus in Tennessee to lead a class for 15 students as well as several staff members. The class was part of the Wellness curriculum implemented by the Academy to address students' physical and mental health. The students thoroughly enjoyed the two hour class and look forward to Ms. Dennis returning to the program in September for another lesson.

Mrs. Dennis has practiced hatha yoga which includes the styles of Ashtanga, Iyengar, Jivamukti, Integral, and Bhak,ti yoga, for 25 years as well as 11 years of meditation practice. She has traveled twice to India, where she studied with Ashtanga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Since teaching her first class 12 years ago, Rebecca has developed a unique teaching style. Her knowledge of many yoga styles and her joyful, non-dogmatic approach appeal to students of all backgrounds.

Eckerd Academy at Deer Lodge is a private residential school located in Morgan county Tennessee. The student body is comprised of male and female students ranging in age from 5th grade to high school graduates. The school is one of three private academies ran by Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc.
