Whetstone Academy Names Advisory Board Chair

Whetstone Academy, a therapeutic boarding school for middle school boys, opened its doors in Mountain Rest, SC, in May of 2011. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, Whetstone Academy's corporate board president is Mrs. Jean Stein. Jean is also the philanthropist who has given Whetstone its generous start and continued support. Her generosity insured a quick start that brought Whetstone to capacity enrollment within its first year.

As Whetstone continues to march through its second year of operation, it is pleased to announce the formation of an Advisory Board. This Board will be chaired by Mr. Todd W. Singer, father of Whetstone Academy's first graduate.

Todd Singer is president of Heartland Consulting, Inc. Todd directs all of Heartland?s lobbying and grant writing initiatives and advocates on behalf of Heartland?s clients throughout the United States including Washington, D.C., in the following areas: energy, education as well as transportation & infrastructure.

Since 2006, Heartland Consulting, Inc. has delivered more than $30 million in education and transportation funding initiatives.Todd is a former Judge in both criminal & family courts, former Assistant and Appellate Public Defender, former Assistant District Attorney and Adjunct Professor of Law at the University Of Tulsa College Of Law. He remains a Member in Good Standing of the Oklahoma Bar Association and is a licensed practitioner in both state and federal courts. He is a graduate of Brandeis University, Bachelor of Arts ?84 and the University Of Tulsa College Of Law, Juris Doctor ?90. He resides in Hendersonville, North Carolina and currently splits his time between North Carolina, Oklahoma and Washington, DC.
