Wilderness Treatment Center is proud to announce that Mummi eda, Pall Einarsson, and Jon por Kvaran from Gotusmidjan treatment facility in Iceland came for a visit in early June. This is the third time Gotusmidjan has come to Wilderness Treatment Center. The Icelandic government supplied grant money for the collaborative effort and afforded Gotusmidjan the necessities to learn more about adolescent and young adult treatment in the United States. Gotusmidjan has chosen Wilderness Treatment Center based on its long standing reputation of treating adolescents and young adults.
The staff of Gotusmidjan was able to participate in normal treatment activities and learn about Wilderness Treatment Center's approach to screening and assessment, treatment planning, group and individual therapy, psycho educational lectures/discussions, and wilderness therapy. Wilderness Treatment Center has humbly embraced Gotusmidjan in an attempt to help them treat Icelandic youth more effectively.
