"We work with young adults, age 18 and over who are at an age to be independent, but are unwilling or unable to detach from their parents. Roughly half of the students at Penrith are kids who went to college and failed out due to partying (drinking, playing video games, etc) and the other half are kids who are "stuck and not moving forward" who have been struggling from adolescence to young adulthood. We work on 'real life issues' in a 'real time' environment." Jeremy, who met Jim Brewster, the founder of Penrith Farms when he was 18, started working for him during the summers for about 6 years. He then went on to join the Army, went on to college and then returned to Penrith and helped with administrative duties. From there, he has transitioned into his new role. When asked where he saw himself in five years, Jeremy shared he would probably still be at Penrith Farms, but quickly went on to say he doesn't plan out future details for himself because life is just so unpredictable. To prepare himself, however, he is currently working towards another Master's degree- this one in Mental Health Counseling and is still quite active in the Army National Guard, hoping to soon be promoted to Captain.
