On today's Parent Choices for Struggling Teens, Lon Woodbury's guest, Ken Rabow, a LIfe Empowerment coach and the author of "The Slacker's Guide to Success" (available on amazon.com) shared how today's generation Y is struggling with finding success and how he works with his clients through a series of step by step actions that assist them in finding their inner power and belief in themselves.
Ken's clients are teens and young adults, often bright and talented, yet have gotten stuck and just quit or as Ken explains "all the things that used to work (such as getting straight A's- therefore you get the job) are just not working anymore (partly due to unemployment and the economy). So by creating and following through with simple daily routines such as going for a walk and allowing yourself time to contemplate and connect with a great moment in their lives, eating healthy and getting more sleep, can then build into daily successes. "Things that are done with the heart-just for themselves" through creativity such as journaling or art also help to create personal successes. From there the building blocks (of 13 steps) are put into place with personal development: including looking at our strengths and how we sabotage them, reading and journaling, or perhaps taking a course that is easy; finding a mentor; setting up an abundant mindset (the power of positive thinking); professional development and inner development and finding the hero in yourself. It all boils down to looking at the 'grand dream' the young person might have but forgotten about.
"My job as a life empowerment coach allows me to be the go-between, so that everyone can take a breath. I love what I do and I love my clients."
