Peak Performance for the Brain

With our ever changing world and our fast paced, hectic, and chaotic lifestyles, our bodies are having to perform at peak physical condition. In addition to added stress on our physical bodies, our brains are being bombarded with stress from excessive stimuli, busy schedules, demanding and complex decision making, hectic commutes to and from home or work, poor nutrition, bills and the ever growing economic instability…a hundred fold over what our grandparents ever had to deal with. It all feels so overwhelming!

The guest on July 8, Dave Siever, an engineering technologist, designed the very first Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) device, the Digital Audio-Visual Integration Device or DAVID1. This was the basis for his company, Mind Alive, Inc. Dave has been researching and refining AVE technology to be used for boosting academic performance, treating depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, insomnia, PMS, ADD, FMS, SAD, pain, stress and relaxation with very positive results.

Dave who originally designed a research lab and related diagnostic equipment for TMJ Dysfunction, began studying biofeedback with those patients leading him to his creating the AVE. During the interview, Lon Woodbury asked how it works and what it can do for patients as far as treatment is concerned.

"Quickly, brain waves change to track the tones and lights," Dave explained. "Then there is a disassociation from your thoughts, blood flow goes up, and the serotonin crashes in seconds. There are five different categories with which patients work: an energizer category, a brain booster category, meditation category, sleep category and a happy category."

Students with learning problems can also get help with this device, especially those who feel hopeless from other treatments not working.

"I want them to feel hopeful within the first session, emotionally hopeful." Dave continued. "For many students or patients, using the AVE can rebuild self-esteem and confidence and removes stress, anxieties and fears."

"People are in tune with neuro technology now," he explained. "There is so much work going on in this field. We now have over 70 schools in the Minnesota and Wisconsin area using this technology today in helping children."
