Sean LaRoque is one of three founders of Mansfield Hall in Burlington Vermont and the Director of their new expansion into Madison Wisconsin. He joined Lon on January 22, 2015 to discuss the kind of support college students with learning differences need to be successful in college. He explained that the young people they work with do not have behavior problems, but have ADHD, or high functioning Autism, or poor Executive Functioning skills, or some Learning Disability, or maybe more than one of those or all of the above. These students are mentally capable of doing college work, but need support to learn self-organization, life skills or even just a mentor to cheer them on. There are various ways a student can be helped with these skills, but he explained how the support is more effective and easier by having the students live together either in a common home or in individual apartments in a central location as Mansfield Hall does.
