"Twelve", This new film produced by Jack Sinclair looks at the issues and asks: Is there life after rehab in recovery? It is currently being distributed by Hazelden and with Films for the Humanities and Sciences.
This new documentary style video, created by Sinclair, reveals the progression of drug and alcohol addiction from the early stages of experimentation through the death defying bottom to the spiritual enlightenment of recovery. This unscripted presentation is receiving much applause from adolescents and young adults (and their loved ones) because of its cool, hip MTV style format that youth is used to seeing.
Taking six to nine months to earn the trust of many of the young people featured in this powerful video, Sinclair filmed 30 hours of footage which was then reduced to a tightly presented 44 minute video that is winning praise from treatment centers, parents and adolescents.
"We discovered that the most effective method of communications is young people talking the TRUTH to other youth". Sinclair states "Young people don't like authority figures. This is not a policeman talking to them, or a principal, or their doctor or a judge".
The message this film conveys is that recovery is possible and life can be fun again. And it comes directly from the mouths of 20 people that got sober as teenagers!
