Turning Winds Academic Institute is happy to announce the new expansion of our campus to increase enrollment to over 60 students with our new facilities to promote a healthier learning environment. Founded in 2002, as a coed therapeutic boarding school we have helped hundreds of families in crisis.
The latest addition to the campus is the new girl's dorm, which will accommodate up to 20 girls. Some of the notable features in the new building are granite counter tops, floor to ceiling rock fireplace, wood floors, and more than 4000 square feet of living space. In addition, the new girl's facility will allow female students to have increased privacy and live in a smaller family-like-environment. The new girls dorm is just one of many new improvements to help facilitate appropriate cross gender communication and interaction within the school. As operations manager Owen Baisden affirms, "Most of the communication between the males and females at Turning Winds occurs concurrently within structured settings such as school or therapeutic group sessions. The girls dorm is important because it provides improved facilities for appropriate learning and also provides a unique and friendly learning environment for adolescent girls with a wide range of problems".
"Although our students come to us with differing struggles, the way back for most is the same," continued Baisden. "A low level of self-respect and self-worth is a key indicator of a teens need to attend our school for struggling teens. As self-respect and self-worth decline risky behaviors and a lack of respect tend to increase," says Baisden. "Our focus in healing each child is to help them redevelop the frame of mind that allows each one to better see their potential and value, which is something most have started to forget, or can no longer can see. "
