At Turn-About Ranch we offer a Christian Track to any and all students looking to connect their faith to their recovery because we know how important it is to many of our students, as well as their families, to include their faith into their treatment.

Our ranch provides our students with a beautiful backdrop filled with many of God's creations, all of which are intended to help them leave our program with the will to succeed.

This specific program will provide each student with a certified Christian counselor who will provide weekly individualized counseling sessions to address his or her therapeutic issues with a faith based approach that is designed to help students deepen and/or discover their faith.

While their days are often chalk-full of activities centered around their faith, students involved in the Christian Counseling Track will also receive quiet time before bed to reflect upon a devotional topic based on biblical passages.

Staff members, therapists, friends and family of the student will welcome their thoughts.

Student Profile: Adolescent girls and boys age 13-17 who may have :

  • Drug and/or alcohol use

  • Mood disorders, anger issues, oppositional defiant disorder, and low self-esteem

  • Negative peer relationships and family systems issues

  • Adoption/Attachment Issues and trauma

  • Learning issues and/or low academic performance

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • Weekly process groups - These process groups are based on the Meier Clinic's "Journey to Joy Workbook". Through these groups, students will be immediately connected to additional groups that can help them through their recovery, including trauma, grief and loss and/or substance abuse groups. In conjunction with this opportunity, students will also be able to participate in our leadership groups, which help encourage them to become more confident in themselves.
  • Face-to-face family counseling - At mid-term and prior to graduation, families will be invited to attend face-to-face counseling sessions with their loved one. In addition to these sessions, parents will also receive weekly phone calls from their child's therapist discussing his or her progress as well as provide any necessary parent coaching or therapy.
  • Biblical pastoral counseling - To help keep their faith strongly intertwined with their recovery, we encourage our students to speak with our pastoral counselor on a weekly basis. Students will be encouraged to work with their counselor to schedule sessions and conversations regarding these sessions.
  • Weekly church service - Turn-About Ranch offers weekly church services for all of our students willing to attend. These services are a nondenominational Christian service based on biblical precepts.
  • Ranch life - All of our students are participants on our ranch; however this experience plays directly into the needs of our students who have chosen the Christian counseling track. These students can appreciate the circle of life by helping care for cows, pigs, sheep, lambs, rabbits, geese and more. They are also exposed to the continual cycle of life and death, which helps play a vital role in their coping skills.
  • Service - Students will have the opportunity to provide service during their stay at Turn About as they become involved in community service projects as well as work directly with the elderly and widows. Additional service projects can include adopt-a-highway litter control, yard care, building a little league baseball field, splitting wood for the elderly and assisting at the local "care and share" food bank.

Turn-About Ranch is a high impact program for struggling teenagers between the ages of 13-17.
