Balotti Director of Admissions 215-888-1318 mbalotti@truenorthvt.com www.truenorthvt.com True North Wilderness Program is excited to announce that Paul Case, Psy.D will be joining our clinical team as a Parent Program therapist. Paul Case is a pastor's kid from Mississippi who knew early on that he wanted to be engaged in helping others grow through the challenges of life. A Type 1 diabetic since age 6, Paul learned that life is at times unfair and difficult, and that facing hardships can provides a transformative opportunity for spiritual and emotional development. After earning his BA in English Literature at Millsaps College in 1991, Paul took a few years to pursue his dream of being a songwriter and musician through playing guitar and singing in several bands in Nashville, Tennessee. As he came to understand that he would need a "day job" to support his musical passion, Paul decided to pursue his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College in Chicago, where he focused on work with adolescents and families. After his post-doctoral residency at the Montana State Hospital, Paul joined the clinical staff at a well-respected therapeutic boarding school in Montana. This experience was a game-changer for Paul, who began to appreciate the powerful growth that was happening for families in therapeutic boarding schools, residential treatment centers, and wilderness therapy programs. Over the past 12 years, Paul has served as a Clinical Supervisor, a Primary Therapist and an Assistant Clinical Director at three of the nation's top therapeutic programs. Given Paul's passion for working with the family system while kids are enrolled in a treatment program, Paul authored a book in 2007 for parents entitled What Now? How Teen Therapeutic Programs Could Save Your Troubled Child. Additionally, Paul has led seminars and workshops for parents, has developed a parent-coaching practice, and has delivered papers at the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) and the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). Paul's vision is helping families navigate the natural developmental milestones of raising kids into effective adults in today's culture. According to Paul, "Our kids and emerging adults ask their parents to grow alongside them, and when parents are willing to undertake their own growth and development, greater connection and understanding is available." Paul's hope is that, like the hero's journey story that exists across cultures, when parents and their emerging adult children open up to this beautiful process, they can all experience transformation. Undoubtedly, this impacts the greater community in which we live. When Paul is not engaged in this work, you're likely to find him spending time with his family and friends, hiking with his two awesome dogs, or keeping up with and sometimes joining in the music scene in Nashville. We look forward to bringing you more news about Paul's work with us as the spring approaches. © Copyright 2012 by Woodbury Reports, Inc. |
