Traverse is a short term therapeutic boarding school that provides a healthy blend of co-ed and single gender programming. Summit Traverse's innovative program design, a step-down from intensive treatment programs, combines family-centered therapeutic services, a blended learning academic program, and a rich residential life curriculum that strengthens executive functioning, skills for independence, and self-management of leisure time pursuits. The Clinical Team at Summit Traverse consists of Nicol Ernst, LCSW, Clinical Director, Kathy Haber, LCSW, the therapist for Traverse, and Eryn Skye Phelps, LCPC, therapist for Traverse Girls. Nicol has a Bachelor's Degree in U.S. History from Brown University and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of New England. Nichol oversees the Clinical Department and reviews all student applications for admission, while also serving as a primary therapist to students and their families. His areas of expertise include cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems theory, and social coaching. Kathy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation from Green Mountain College and a Master of Social Work from the University of Vermont. She is also a graduate of a semester program with the National Outdoor Leadership School. Kathy has 15 years experience working with youth. Eryn is a licensed therapist who earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Montana and a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. She has worked with adolescents for over ten years.
