As many of you know, after more than 25 years as Assistant Director, I decided it was time for me to change how I spend my days and my relationship with Spruce Mountain Inn. Director Candace Beardsley and I are pleased to have me continue to represent Spruce in the professional communities that refer to us and engage in a variety of outreach activities to keep referrals coming to our program. I will be working on a part-time basis and mostly from home or on-the-road.

Candace initiated a nationwide search and reviewed many applications. The result however, comes from our own back yard… Ferrisburgh, Vermont.

We are very pleased to announce that we have hired Grant Leibersberger. M.Ed., M.B.A to replace me as Assistant Director.

Grant has ten years of progressive management experience in residential treatment organizations that serve adolescents, young adults and their families. Grant's experience includes serving as the Director of Blackwater Academy, a wilderness program for young adults and youth in Virginia and as Field Director of the Blue Mountain Family Center in Utah. He has also worked on the financial end of helping families fund treatment programs through WAI, Inc and UBS Financial Services.

Grant holds an M.Ed in Counseling from North Western University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. His experience and education allow him to apply many different skill sets to his work here with staff, program participants, referral sources and parents.

Grant and his wife Jennifer are dedicated to living in Vermont and Grant is very committed to the type of work we do at Spruce Mountain Inn. We are very grateful to have found such a good fit and look forward to combining our collective resources to continue to provide the excellent program we offer here.

Grant will begin his employment here on Monday October 6.

We are planning for me to have a lengthy overlap with Grant (amount of time to be determined as we go). I will then narrow and redefine the scope of my job to be the "Director of Referral Development and Outreach" as Grant takes on the responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Spruce Mountain Inn.

I greatly value the many relationships I have made over the years, and I am pleased we will be able to continue to interact as we work collaboratively in meeting the needs of young adults with serious mental health issues. I look forward to talking with you soon.
