As recognized experts who have worked with teens for decades, the Solstice leadership team offers advice on how to help teens have success in school:
A 1999 study published in the Journal of Research and Development in Education found a direct correlation between parent involvement in their child's academic life both at home and school, and whether or not the child would go on to obtain an undergraduate degree. Solstice residential treatment centers try to create this similarly nurturing academic environment for students with caring, experienced teachers and individualized academic plans. "Our residential treatment center works with teen girls struggling with emotional and behavioral issues damaging potential academic success. We provide them with the tools necessary to thrive in a traditional school environment," says Kyle Gillett, Ph.D., LMFT and Executive Director of Solstice East and Founder of both Solstice and Solstice East. At Solstice and Solstice East, the education of students is just as important as their journey towards healing. Academics are fully integrated with the clinical program and all treatment plans include academic problems and goals. "At Solstice, our experience has demonstrated to us that when teens start succeeding academically and are equipped with the necessary emotional tools, they are more likely to be motivated elsewhere in their lives," commented Dan Stuart,MS, LMFT and Executive Director and Founder of Solstice. "When teens begin to feel confident, it has a positive impact on their family and peer relationships, as well as their clinical progress." Solstice RTC in Utah and Solstice East in North Carolina offer specialized, clinically intensive programs based on the specific needs of young women. At Solstice RTC and Solstice East, young women discover their full potential.
