Shortridge Academy, a private therapeutic boarding school located near the Lakes Region of southeastern New Hampshire, is searching for a Director of Counseling to support its Positive Youth Development-informed residential and academic component and help direct the strengths-based counseling program for adolescents in 9th through 12th grades. The target for filling this full-time director role is early 2012 and the position will report to the Clinical & Health Services Director, Kay Patch, MSN, PMHCNS-BC, APRN.
The Director of Counseling will work closely with the Residential Program Director, Director of Studies and Director of Academic Support and serve on the Shortridge Academy management team. The position will directly supervise the team of master's level Counselors in the delivery of their duties providing individual, group and family counseling to support the milieu and academic areas of Shortridge Academy. Additionally, leading the evolution of our family programming and staff training, plus ensuring individualized Positive Development Plans for each student will be the key areas of focus.
The ideal candidate will be a currently licensed clinician (with the ability to be licensed in the State of New Hampshire), have at least 5 years of direct clinical experience working in a residential or wilderness setting serving adolescents (preferably in a supervisory role and serving private pay clients), have excellent communications skills (both written, oral and group presentation), and be able to travel overnight for referral relations and outreach purposes. The position will be based at the campus located in Milton, New Hampshire 30 minutes from the seacoast, an hour from Manchester, and less than 2 hours from the Boston metropolitan area.
