The Shelterwood Program in Independence, MO is excited to announce its participation in the Thurman Mitchell Servant Leadership Celebration on November 1, 2010. At this event, the Servant Foundation presents the "Passion Awards" to outstanding ministries. The Shelterwood Program has been selected to receive a monetary grant of $5,000.

The Thurman Mitchell Servant Leadership Celebration has become known as one of the largest Christian ministry award ceremonies in the country. This year will mark the ninth anniversary of the Passion Awards, and they are excited about the opportunity once again to honor and recognize outstanding ministries.

Shelterwood is being recognized for excellence in the field of adolescent care and their desire to raise funds for families with at-risk teens who are in need. Shelterwood has raised millions of dollars over the past thirty years to support struggling families through their scholarship program. As Shelterwood continues to develop its scholarship fund, this award will go directly to a family in December of 2010.

Shelterwood is a Christian based residential therapeutic boarding school for struggling teens, providing individual, group and family therapy, a mentorship program and accredited academics.
