Santiam Crossing School is pleased to announce that Joy McMahon, LSW, has taken a position as Campus Therapist.

She brings to our campus 10 years of experience in the field of Social Work and six years direct practice experience in experiential therapeutic-settings working directly with adolescents. Joy specializes in working with students with co-occurring disorders as well as grief and loss.

Her background includes work as a wilderness therapist, as a therapeutic supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school, a therapist at an intensive-outpatient facility specializing in working with adolescents with substance-abuse issues, and as a caseworker for Child Protective Services in Colorado.

McMahon is a licensed Social Worker and holds her degree from Colorado State University; she completed her undergraduate studies at Wittenberg University and also studied at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

Santiam Crossing is a therapeutic boarding school for struggling adolescents ages 13 to 18 that have completed a therapeutic wilderness program. The school offers academic credit recovery, is clinically intensive, has a strong family component, and an outdoor adventure and professional development curriculum. The average length-of-stay of students is seven months.
