We are pleased to announce that Santiam Crossing is celebrating five years of providing therapeutic and academic services to struggling adolescents.

"We designed Santiam Crossing to be an affordable, short-term option for adolescents completing a wilderness therapy program that needed more time to solidify their treatment gains and to recover academic credits. We have been honored to work with more than 200 families in the past five years," explained Referral Development and Marketing Director Sarah Mack.

Students attending Santiam Crossing graduate, on average, at seven months. The therapeutic boarding school provides extensive therapy, substance abuse treatment, and adventure education programming. Here adolescents' ages 13 to18 can resume academic study while continuing to build on their treatment gains. Students benefit from taking part in a family reunification program in addition to the accelerated, academic credit recovery curriculum. Attendance of a therapeutic wilderness program is a pre-requisite for enrollment.

An alumni reunion was held recently to celebrate the anniversary. A number of alumni students attended the event. One student shared, "The most useful impact that Santiam Crossing has had on me is my newly gained self-confidence and independence. I am very independent, happy, and completely capable of managing my life."

Another student commented, "I liked being able to work at my own pace academically. I could make goals for myself and accomplish them."

"After five great years, I think it's safe to not think of us as the 'new kid on the block' anymore," said Mack.
