SUWS of the Carolinas Old Fort, NC Wilderness Therapist Adolescent Boys (Old Fort,NC) SUWS of the Carolinas is currently seeking to fill the position of Wilderness Therapist for our Bravo program. SUWS of the Carolinas is a Wilderness Therapy program that operates in the Pisgah National Forest, 30 miles west of Asheville, NC. We specialize in the treatment of youth ages 10-17, both male and female. Clients include adolescents who present with a wide variety of DSM-V Axis I diagnoses, substance abuse difficulties and/or Asperger's (ASD) issues, or nonspecific learning disorders. Our Bravo program works with boys ages 13 to 17, confronting a variety of issues including
Masters level education in Counseling or Social Work required. Independent mental health licensure (LSCW, LPC, LMFT) in North Carolina is required. Must have strong organizational, individual, group and family therapy skills. A Wilderness Therapy background or ability to work 2-3 days/week within the beautiful Pisgah National Forest a plus. Required to hike short and long distances to meet with groups and to coordinate treatment with Field Instructors who work in the field, round-the-clock.
