Costume Change Artist: Dan Conroy, Event Emcee, Founder of AIM House

Thanks to so many of you, the money raised at this year's SavingTeens Charity Event is already in action. You helped raise $87,000 to help families pay for their children's therapeutic programs. SavingTeens has already chosen a student to support and the details will soon be ironed out.

I'm a "newbie" to SavingTeens and I'm delighted by the dedication exerted by volunteers and donors. SavingTeens in Crisis is a 501 (c)(3), launched in 2004 to assist troubled teens struggling with substance abuse and other emotional issues. The scholarships help the families pay for therapeutic programs; supporting them as much as possible on their journey of change, from the first steps to after-care.

In February I experienced several "firsts": my first trip to Las Vegas (Hello Neon, the Mob Museum, and Cirque du Soleil!), my first NATSAP conference (National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs - breakout sessions full of wisdom, and insightful one-on-one conversations), and the SavingTeens Charity Golf Scramble and Banquet. The awards banquet offered engaging interaction, tasty treats, and several joy moments.
Ruling the Stage: Vanessa Ferri, singer, past scholarship recipient

SavingTeens' Director of Development, Carrie Weatherhead and I agree, a 17-year-old singer created the real sparkle. "Vanessa Ferri is a student that benefits from our scholarships…" Weatherhead continued, "Here she is, a student at Montcalm School, keeping herself on track, and now entertaining the very people who help support her! Her voice was magnificent!"

It's always gratifying when we actually get to see how our donations are working out there in the world. It was rewarding for me to watch Ferri perform, and affirming to break bread with such an impactful group of people with whom I now collaborate.

I have managed communications for Echo Springs Transition Study Center for the past four years and I took on admissions this past summer. Echo Springs has gifted me such beautiful opportunities to work with educational consultants, NATSAP, our courageous families, and now SavingTeens! Last year, Echo Springs partnered with a student partially supported by SavingTeens… may the circle be unbroken.
Loving the Event: Doug Kim-Brown, Founder of Echo Springs &
Myrna Harris, Educational Consultant

John Reuben, the founder of SavingTeens, praised the fundraiser, "The success of this annual event is due to the tremendous efforts of our volunteers and the support of sponsors. It illustrates the potential when NATSAP members, educational consultants, and concerned parents collaborate to assist families in need with the opportunity to help their troubled children. We are proud of the results."
