Dear Friends:

It has been a wonderful year at Rock Point School! There have been trips to Costa Rica, Washington, DC for a Habitat for Humanity Project, Boston and Montreal; white water rafting; snowboarding and skiing; maple and pumpkin festivals, and so much more. Students gained study skills, honed their organizational and time-management skills, and re-engaged in school. They participated in the Young Playwrights Festival and the Recycled Art Show. Real friendships were made.

What's new for next year?

CJ Spirito, who has been at Rock Point for the last 21 years in various capacities will be our new Head of School. He is extremely qualified and already doing a fantastic job. We said goodbye to John Rouleau, after 40 years, at his John-a-Palooza, offering a roast and toast. Many students, as well as current and prior staff, board members, and parents, came to publicly honor John and share the love and support they felt while here at Rock Point School.

We will be offering a Post Graduate Year for students who have not yet attended Rock Point School, providing a chance to participate fully in classes; gain study and organizational skills; have the chance to do an internship, take a college class, or perhaps get a job; and take a bit more time before heading off to college.

In addition, our students requested an upgrade to the computer lab and helped raise funds to make it possible. By September, we will have all new computers and software.

What will stay the same?

We will maintain our philosophy, heart-connections, and thoughtful ways of working with students. We will continue to provide executive functioning strategies and supports throughout our curriculum. Our amazing staff will continue to be funny and smart, creative and patient. They know when to support our students, when to push, and when to celebrate.

Is there still room?

People are asking if it is too late to apply to Rock Point School. The good news is that it is not too late to apply. We have room in our classes and are looking for fun, creative, and interesting students who have found themselves off-track academically, socially, and/or emotionally. We offer them opportunities to be supported, be held accountable, have the chance to re-engage in class discussions and homework, have an immense amount of fun, and be in a place where they can find meaning and purpose in their lives. If you have any potential applicants, just give me a call.

I hope you are enjoying the warmth, the flowers, and some relaxation.

Very truly yours,
Hillary
