Dr. Aaron Shaw recently joined The Pinnacle Schools as a member of the clinical team at the Elk River Treatment Program.
Dr. Shaw received a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy at Brigham Young University after earning a Master's in Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida. He has several years of experience as a therapist working with children and families in outpatient and inpatient capacities. He comes to The Pinnacle Schools from private practice as owner and therapist at Therapy for Teens.
The programs of The Pinnacle Schools are empirically derived to provide clinically supported diagnostic, assessment, and treatment services to troubled teens ages 12 - 18. Typical residents of the Elk River Treatment Program present with the dual diagnosis of substance abuse and, including but not limited to: ADD/ADHD/ODD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Asperger's Syndrome, Online Gaming Addiciton, Adoptions/Divorce/Family issues, Obesity, Academic Decline/Learning Differences, Negative Peer Relationships, etc.
The adult, professional staff of The Pinnacle Schools use a Treatment Team approach along with a strong family therapy component. A group therapy model is utilized in combination with an individualized treatment plan. Programs of The Pinnacle Schools include a strong academic curriculum, medication management, and
behavior modification.
The Pinnacles Schoolsinclude a Private Year-Round School in Huntsville, AL for Grades 6 - 12, Elk River Academy for Extended Length of Stay, and Healthy Lifestyles Teen Weight Management Program.
