The Optimum Performance Institute (OPI) offers a two-phase transitional program for young adults ages 17-25. It was founded in February 2004 by Dr. Robert Fischer, a psychiatrist with 30 years experience in treating children, adolescents and adults. OPI provides the individualized help its clients need to make the tools and skills they acquired in therapeutic programs, therapeutic boarding schools, wilderness programs or during prior college experiences "real".

Residents are required to make a minimum six-month commitment to complete the program. Each phase is approximately 90-days. Residents work with staff and outside mentors to define academic, emotional or substance abuse issues, and determine which of these areas of growth requires attention and support.

Young adults at OPI attend college, get a high school diploma, complete their GED or enter the workforce. OPI offers services ranging from individualized/group counseling, career counseling and psychotherapy to educational tutoring and organizational support to help residents set goals and decide what they want to do with their lives.
