The Optimum Performance Institute announces a new, unique treatment approach for Borderline Personality Disorder at Roanne Manor, a home environment in a secure setting in Malibu, California.
The new Roanne Program is based on developmental milestones combining proven, evidence-based treatment modalities for BPD with proven techniques OPI established in 2003 to help young adults achieve balance and independence in their lives.
Roanne begins with a 6-week Immersion Phase, described as a comprehensive phase where women ages 18-28 learn to regulate emotions by our professionals trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and enhanced Mindfulness Techniques including Qi Gung, Tai Chi, Yoga, Acupuncture, Somatic Experiencing, and Equine Therapy. The staff believe that the acquisition and utilization of mindfulness skills provides a greater probability for a successful outcome.
Following the 6-week Immersion Phase is the Transition Phase (Apartment Living), which fully utilize OPI's established departments of Education, Career Development, Extra Curricular Activities, and Volunteer Services.
Women move to higher levels, practicing the regulation of emotions using DBT and Mindfulness Learning Techniques while they work with OPI's seasoned staff who are trained in helping Young Adults gain independence. They explore individual interests and possible careers, identify a passion in life and reunite with family members.
Select OPI staff members were intensively trained by Behavioral Tech LLC, founded by Marsha Linehan, PhD, founder of DBT as an evidenced-based treatment for complex personality disorders and Mike Hollander, PhD, senior clinical consultant at the Child and Adolescent Partial Hospital Program at McLean Hospital, Harvard University. Dr. Hollander participated in the Roanne program development and is a consultant.
