North Star Center is pleased to announce that Scott Fitzwater and Alice Huskey have been named Program Director and Academic Director, respectively. Scott once served as a Case Manager for NorthStar, and most recently as Program Director for SageWalk the Wilderness School. Alice has been promoted to Academic Director upon the retirement of Tina Linden-Levy, having served as an Academic Instructor for four years.

Scott received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College. He has over 13 years of experience working with at-risk youth and their families and is licensed in the State of Oregon as a Practical Counselor. Prior to Scott's four-year tenure at SageWalk, he worked as a Child & Family Therapist with Deschutes County Mental Health.

Alice received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Kent State University. She currently holds a Teaching License from the state of Oregon with endorsements for Standard and Special Education. Alice has over 20 years of experience in education, including four years as a special education teacher with Redmond public schools. She is a certified life coach who has worked with adults with developmental disabilities and families in need.

NorthStar Center, a program of Aspen Education Group and division of CRC Health, is a transitional-living program specializing in assisting young adults ages 17.5-24 years with substance abuse recovery. Located in Bend, Oregon, all students receive personal academic assistance, individual and group counseling, and ongoing support in becoming responsible young adults. The program stresses recovery, responsibility and recreation to challenge students to think for themselves.
