Next Step Embraces Continuing Education

NEXT STEP FOR SUCCESS®, Redmond, Oregon, has undertaken a company-wide plan in which all of its Associate Coaches will add continuing education credits and certifications to their professional portfolios.

Co-Founder Bill Valentine, PsyD. CC, believes everyone benefits from continuing education; clients, coaches, and the coaching profession. "All of our Associate Coaches possess coaching certification, advanced degrees in the helping and teaching fields, have parented a struggling teen through difficult times and/or years of in-program experience. However, specialized knowledge and research into the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood is expanding rapidly. While the NEXT STEP model is non-therapeutic coaching, we will be better coaches and parent/program partners if we are current with what is working in the helping fields."

The Associate Coach continuing education focus is on study which has direct application to work with parents and programs. Examples of courses in which Next Step coaches are currently enrolled or have recently completed are: Theory and Practice of Addiction Counseling, ADHD Coach Training, Coaching Parents of Struggling Teens and Young Adults, Six Second Introduction to Emotional Intelligence, Developmental Psychopathology and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
