New Leaf Academy, founded in 1997 as the first therapeutic boarding school specifically for younger girls, ages 10 through 14 at time of admission, is pleased to announce the completion of our Phase One Technology Expansion for our historic academic campus, the Angeline Young School. This expansion has been made possible through cooperative effort involving New Leaf parents and the founders/owners of the Academy.
On August 24, 2012, New Leaf Academy installed four fully-integrated presentation stations linked to Smart Board Technology, one in each of our four classrooms. This expansion will significantly enhance the student learning experience across the full range of study, including mathematics, sciences, language arts and humanities/social sciences. Smart Board Technology, based upon numerous empirical studies, has been shown to increase academic performance in both the remedial and accelerated learner, from Pre-K through college, including the full spectrum of learning styles.
Each of the four (4) classroom-based presentation stations includes the following: Hitachi CP-X2015 projector, AverVision CP 135 document camera, iPad 3 and integrated laptop, linked to four (4) Smart Board 680 electronic boards. The systems include enhanced audio.
"This has been made possible through a dynamic partnership between New Leaf parents and the Academy," said Craig Christiansen, Founder and Executive Director. "Since we use an evidence-based model for our therapeutic and academic programs, we wanted to go with technology tools that have shown demonstrated success with our students through comprehensive research. We are excited for what this means for our girls and staff as we head into our 16th year."
