The Board of Trustees of the McGuffey Foundation School in Oxford, Ohio is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alfred Allen as Head of School, effective July 1, 2010. Dr. Allen has over 35 years of experience working in independent day and boarding schools in New England, and is well-known for his work with students who have learning differences, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and other clinical needs.

Prior to his appointment at the McGuffey Foundation School, Dr. Allen was the Dean of Academics at the King George School in Vermont, and was previously the Head of School at Ashby Academy, Granite Hill School, and the Hunter School. For many years he was the executive director of the New England Salem Children's Village. He is the former president of the New Hampshire Special Education Providers Association, and the N.H. Partners in Service to Children, Youth, and Families. Dr. Allen also maintains an educational consulting practice based out of New London, New Hampshire.

The McGuffey Foundation School is the former McGuffey Lab School of Miami University. Located in the town of Oxford, Ohio, home to the university, the McGuffey Foundation School is the region's premier independent school for gifted students of all learning styles. Dr. Allen has called this opportunity "the gift of a lifetime", and is looking forward to bringing his passion for learning to a new generation of teachers and students.
