Life Development Institute has been recognized as one of 15 finalists in the Pluralism category of the 2009 World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) held in Doha in mid-November.

The Qatar Foundation has worked hard on positioning their country and the GCC region as a center of education innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. The two Laureates in each category will be notified by the end of this month.

The country of Qatar considers education a national priority and devotes substantial financial and political resources to back up their goal of being a world leader. Recently, there have been efforts to develop educational programming for students with special learning needs, but these are still far from being fully realized or inclusive.

This competition is part of an invitation only summit on larger global educational issues. Without much elaboration, the LDI submittal relates to our collaborative efforts with the local community college system to successfully increase participation, retention, and matriculation rates for students with learning and neurodiversity challenges.

We are so appreciative that-from an international perspective- the needs of students with learning and neurodiversity issues are recognized in general as a global education need as well as our Leadership for Life Development Learning Community being specifically honored in this way.

I invite you to look at the other finalists as well as previewing the event at: www.wise-qatar.org/en/short-list
