Rebecca Bowen has been appointed as Learning and Instructional Support Teacher. As the former Director of Adolescent and Child Services for Northeast Clinical Specialists in Willimantic, CT and as a Study Skills Teacher in the Special Education Department at St. Johnsbury Academy, Rebecca brings over 25 years of clinical experience in serving the needs of troubled adolescents. In her new position Rebecca will directly support students and teachers in the classroom. She will serve as liaison between the academic and clinical departments and bring additional clinical support into the classroom. Rebecca received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in Human Development and Family Relations from the University of Connecticut. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and practiced as a clinical therapist for nearly 15 years serving the needs of adolescents, couples and families. Since 2004 she worked in the Special Services department of St. Johnsbury Academy serving as teacher, advisor, and mentor to high school students and developed and implemented curriculum plans for tenth through twelfth grades. Joanne Bertrand has been appointed Technology Resource Teacher. Joanne joins us from St. Johnsbury Academy where for over 14 years she has taught social studies, civics, economics, U.S. History and Ancient Civilizations to high school students. Joanne received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Lyndon State College and a Master of Arts Teaching from the University of Vermont. As the former bibliographic instructor at St. Johnsbury Academy, Joanne collaborated with teachers to provide reference services and technology support in the classroom. She acted as assistant to the Director of the Grace Stuart Orcutt Library and worked directly with students on how to use technology to coordinate effective database searching, research process, citations and note taking.
