Jubilee Leadership Academy in Prescott, WA, was honored as the national recipient of WORLD Magazine's 2014 Hope Award for Effective Compassion at a ceremony on Nov. 20 in Washington, DC. The award, along with a check for $25,000, was presented to Rick Griffin, Executive Director of Jubilee Leadership Academy, who attended the ceremony representing the organization. Jubilee Leadership Academy received the winning share of the record 12,000 votes by readers and supporters associated with WORLD Magazine to win this year's award. Jubilee became the third youth-oriented organization to garner the award in the nine years it has been presented.

Jubilee Leadership Academy was selected earlier this year as the West Region Finalist for the award, and then competed with organizations from four other regions across the United States for the national award.

WORLD Magazine profiled the regional finalist in its October issue. Jubilee's profile highlighted the journey of Travis, a successful student at Jubilee who had previously been involved in criminal activity in the projects of Chicago, IL. Travis's journey from gang member to student leader while at Jubilee serves as an example of Jubilee's principles of compassion on which selection for this award was based.

The story of Travis's transformation can be viewed online at:
