J Bar J Boy’s Ranch

J Bar J Boy’s Ranch is a therapeutic boarding school for young male offenders ages 13-18, offering an alternative to placement in a state facility. As a sub-contractor to the Oregon Youth Authority, the Ranch also serves boys who are ordered by the court to complete a rehabilitation program. “J Bar J Boy’s Ranch takes limited private placement students. The profile of an appropriate student would include the following: out of parental control, truant or suspended from school, may be drug or alcohol involved, and a risk of or involved with the court system. The balance of the current population may include adjudicated male youth and some sex offenders.”

At the Ranch, individual accountability and personal growth are stressed in order to help these young men to understand the origins of their irresponsible behavior and provide mechanisms for them to “view the world rationally” while enhancing their self-esteem and personal power.

J Bar J Boy’s Ranch’s highly structured environment balances both social and academic performance. An accredited on-campus school works with the boys to meet the goal of success in the public school system. Treatment duration averages nine-twelve months.

J Bar J Boy’s Ranch is a division of J Bar J Youth Services, which is also the parent organization for The Academy at Sisters, Sky Lakes Shelter and Evaluation, Cascade Youth and Family Services, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon. The Ranch is licensed by the Oregon Department of Human Resources, accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and registered as an alternative school with the Oregon Department of Education.
