| From Strugglingteens.com Breaking News Heritage School Provo, UT Heritage School Addresses MisconceptionsContact: Ian Petersen Outreach Director 801-226-4641 ian.petersen@heritagertc.org www.heritagertc.org I have been meeting with many Educational Consultants since my return to work eight months ago. I have loved reconnecting with you and becoming acquainted with so many new consultants. Thank you for your time and concern, and visiting our campus. During our discussions, several consultants have encouraged me to get the good word out about Heritage School. Your peers have informed me that I need to clear up some misconceptions that are prevalent in IECA about Heritage School. The purpose of this communication is to provide that clarification. I appreciate this opportunity. Misconception #1: Heritage School Is A Locked Facility Heritage School is not locked. In fact, it is an open campus. The facility has never been locked in our 30 year history. Misconception #2: Heritage School Works Primarily With Conduct Disorders And A Harder Population Of Youth Heritage works primarily with youth on the Autistic Spectrum (50 percent of our population). We have a specialty track for ASD treatment. It is referred to as "Peers Academy" on our campus. All of our Clinicians are certified in the Evidenced Based UCLA PEERS Program. Our second largest Population are youth with Mood Disorders, ie., depression, bi-polar, anxiety, etc. (30 percent of our population). We have a specialty track to treat this population of youth and it is known on our campus as Elevate Academy. The other 20 percent of our population are youth who have some type of a trauma based disorder, such as Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress, utilizing a trauma recovery approach. Misconception #3: Heritage Only Works With Agency Kids Heritage School does not have any probation or social service kids in our program. Heritage does take parental referrals from School Districts. It is important to note that all these youth are independently placed by their parents. These parents are committed and dedicated to their sons and daughters and are very involved in the treatment process. I will point out a little known fact: Many of the popular, more expensive programs in Utah are taking referrals from school districts. Those who have said that they are exclusive private pay programs are in the process of expanding their referral options. Heritage School has diversified it's out-reach programs and we are taking referrals from all across the country. Our Educational Consultant and private pay referrals are on a steady rise. Summation Heritage School should be on your radar. We are worthy of your attention and consideration. We have many good things to offer families in need. I invite you to take some time and become reacquainted with Heritage School. Please come and visit and discover who we really are. Take a look at our Facebook page to see current status updates. Lastly, I would invite you to please help me clear up the misconceptions about Heritage School that are out there in your circles of influence. I highly respect the work you are doing. Thank you for your interest in Heritage School.
