Gateway Academy announced their young adult transition program will now be opened to more than just Gateway students.
Gateway Transitions has been open to our current Gateway students for the past 4 years. In January 2015, we will be opening the doors, and accepting transition students outside of Gateway Academy, ages 17.5 to 21. We will be admitting a similar student to our current Gateway profile, and seeking young men who need continued support while they make the transition from a structured setting to a college living experience.
At Gateway Transitions, we will serve young men 17-21 years old who struggle with depression, anxiety, pro9cessing and executive functioning difficulties; who have a highschool diploma or GED, and have completed a wilderness or therapeutic program. These students typically need additional support to launch into responsible, independent adult living and higher education experiences.
Located in downtown Salt Lake City, near Salt Lake Community and Westminister Colleges, and the University of Utah, the program will be perfect for added college support. Students will stay a minimum of 6 months in a dorm style house, with an additional 6 months in apartment living.
We are excited for our next step, and for the opportunity to serve these students and their families through the transition process.
