One resident, who admitted he was dragging himself to the event said, "I actually liked it. I could do that as a job for a few years. The time went really fast and I kind of like making the silverware line up perfectly. I'm a little OCD so it fits."
The Masons have a tradition of formal ceremony and consider their standards quite high when it comes to service for their dinners. One long time member spoke highly of the boys. "These guys don't seem like the "bad kids" they get pegged as. They are just kids and they did a better than good job tonight. I am very pleased. If they continue to volunteer and come through for us, I will write them all a job reference letter."
Director Aaron Huey reflected on the night. "If we give them support to reach a bar set high, they will do it...most of the time, not always. But when they do, man is it inspiring!"
Fire Mountain Sober Home is a residential program for boys, age 13-17, who struggle with drugs, anger, family struggles, and school and relationship issues.
