Family Support Collaborative (FSC), a cooperative network of nonprofit schools and programs serving families, is pleased to announce that Richard Curtis, LMHC, has joined the organization as a Clinical Interventionist. In this role, Richard will provide member programs with admissions support, to include assessment, outreach, and, when needed, in-home interventions. "I have had the pleasure of working with Richard in the past, and I have the utmost respect for him as both a person and a professional, said FSC's Director, Mary Jo DeGrandi. We are extremely fortunate to have him join our talented team."
A cum laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History, Richard received his Masters in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University New England. Trained in Psychodrama and DBT, his work is rooted in the Narrative approach to therapy, and his work has been steeped in Grief, Attachment, Adoption, and Trauma treatment. Richard comes to FSC from The Academy at Swift River where he had served as the school's Clinical Counselor since 2008. Prior to ASR, he worked at the Cheshire Medical Center as an individual, family, and group therapist, and as a psychiatric technician. Richard also gained valuable youth and education experience at Mile High Youth Corps in Denver, CO, Echo Hill Outdoor School in Worton, MD, and North Carolina Outward Bound, to name just a few.
"This new role for me has felt like coming home because it is the work I love most with people of mutual trust and confidence, said Richard regarding his FSC appointment. We have the effective treatment for specific target populations, so my work is connecting teens, their families, and their referring professionals with what they are looking for already. It is amazing to be able to get out there and bring it to others. Kids are bright lights burning with the potential of autonomous life only barely begun - and they have given me the chance to do true work of positive value."
Richard and his wife, Jackie MacNeish, a high school English teacher, live in Montague, MA with their two children, Ewan and Nicanna. His passions include running, traveling, singing and volunteer work.
