This symposium will attend to the needs of new learners, researchers and those seeking to propose their own research concepts with the hope of attaining government funding. The story of one program, from attending REAP to meting funders to being added onto a list of best practice nationally… is what you might be able to share in a few years! Come hear how the Marimed Foundation did it! They attended REAP, connected with funders, attained grant money and then applied to become listed. Meet with governmental representatives to learn more about how you can connect with stimulus educational and public health research funding. This symposium might be for you if: you are an administrator looking for research to support your program, you are a student and want to explore where the research in adventure programming is headed, you are a practitioner and want to understand how research and evaluation might enhance your program or if you are a researcher and want to propose a research concept to government funding sources! Please consider attending this symposium! We are excited about the proposed concept papers including: Kernels in Adventure, Native American Youth and Adventure and School Climate. We are also very excited to hear workshops on the following topics: Quality of Life and Older Adults, Substance Use Prevention, Adventure and Veterans, Accessing State Databases and others!
