Expedition Therapy proudly announces the addition of Lisa Sutton as Director of Admissions and Outreach.
"We are thrilled to have Lisa as part of the Expedition Therapy team," said Beth Fogel, Primary Therapist. Her excellent reputation in the industry, combined with her depth of experience with young adults and their families in a therapeutic setting, will serve Expedition Therapy superbly as we move forward."
Lisa was raised on the east coast, where she attended St. Lawrence University and received a B.S. Degree in Biology. While still in college, she started her career through an Upward Bound program that worked with students from the poor rural community and the Akwesasne Reservation, starting as a Counselor and leaving eight years later as a Counselor Coordinator. Lisa than worked with court adjudicated youth on a wagon train, and became a Wilderness Instructor before moving to Idaho to work at a therapeutic boarding school. During her eleven years there, she coached the cross country team and helped redevelop the program in a sister school. Lisa moved into admissions eight years ago at Echo Springs, a well-known young adult residential program.
Throughout her career, Lisa has enjoyed helping families. She feels especially connected to the families of young adults, as her two children are currently attending college.
"I am very excited to be joining Expedition Therapy's outstanding team of treatment and outdoors professionals," stated Lisa. "The Expedition Therapy program offers a unique, incredibly effective way for young adults to be hands-on, in both their recoveries and their journeys of self-discovery. The Expedition Therapy team offers young adults the encouragement and assistance they need to launch into life. Expedition Therapy treats their students as adults, giving them the tools they need to experience successes that will directly translate into their daily lives. The consistent positive outcomes achieved by the Expedition Therapy team, for both emerging young adults and their families, are a major factor in what attracted me to become a part of this exceptional program and organization."
