Expedition Therapy announces the addition of a highly customized Family Systems Expedition to its comprehensive Therapeutic Expedition MentalityŽ curriculum.
"Our Expedition Therapy students really benefit from the opportunities presented by a Custom Family Expedition," stated Beth Fogel, Primary Therapist. "By bringing parents in to interact and share the Family Expedition experience with the student, we can all work together on the dynamics of the family system and make progress toward solutions that can make a lasting difference for the entire family unit, specifically respectful communication."
Family Expeditions are self-contained and limited to parents, the student, and Expedition Therapy staff. Expedition activities and destinations are customized for the participants' interests. Family Expeditions can include hiking, rock climbing, canyoneering, kayaking, service projects, and expressive arts projects, which take place at a wide variety of spectacular locations on our permitted land throughout the Desert Southwest.
Therapeutic sessions with the family build on the student's previous one-on-one and group sessions. "By broadening the scope of Expedition Therapy's therapeutic benefits to the student's closest family members, we have a way to improve the way that the entire family system works, both in the field and back at home," added Ms. Fogel. "Our Family Expeditions are an excellent way for our students and their families to maintain the progress and momentum that has been achieved at Expedition Therapy, whatever their next step may be."
