The Emerge College Success Program and Simple Projects announce a new collaboration offering the components of a young adult transitional program and college based support services for students who have experienced emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges. The Boise, Idaho, based college transitional program draws on the experience of both educational consultant Andrew Bryan of Emerge and Bradley Midgett, MSW, from Simple Projects.

The Emerge College Success young adult program integrates coaching, mentoring, advocacy and student support services into the college experience for students. Emerge possess a comprehensive knowledge of the components leading to independent living and emancipation for young adults. Our model is based on the premise that people learn basic life skills through positive interaction with the world around them. Emerge provides the academic resources and coaching support to instill positive change in each client's approach to the college experience.

Each student's program is highly individualized and components are designed based on their specific needs and goals. The program is focused on gaining skills toward independence and emancipation, as well as solidifying the student's potential for college success.

Students participate in the college success program as residents in Boise, Idaho, by enrolling at Boise State University, the College of Western Idaho or other post-secondary opportunities. The Emerge year in Boise provides students with the academic and social tools to be successful in a larger campus environment by developing positive relationships with our staff and utilizing their support skills. Students retain the option of working toward transfer to a future college of their choice or remaining as students in the Boise area.

Transitional and therapeutic support for Emerge students is provided through our collaboration with Simple Projects. This includes weekly or biweekly individual sessions, group sessions, workshops, and multi-day retreats, as well as vocational and volunteer support.

Emerge students are encouraged to participate in the international programs of Simple Projects as an important aspect of the college experience. The sign-up deadline for this summer's trip to Brazil is May 31. Simple Projects offers Special Treks in the Fall and Spring in coordination with Emerge, as well as the Summer Gap program.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information about this dynamic opportunity for young adults who are ready to transition to the college experience.
