Elevations Residential Treatment Center and ViewPoint Center are pleased to announce that Karen E. Fitzhugh, Ph.D., has joined the team as Director of Business Development. In this role, Karen will work directly with program referents - including educational consultants and clinical professionals - to identify the ways in which Elevations and ViewPoint can help their young clients succeed.
Dr. Fitzhugh has worked in healthcare, primarily with adolescents, for over 30 years in public and private settings. Most recently, she founded a therapeutic transition program for young adult women in New Hampshire, and served as Executive Director for the past three years. Through this endeavor, Karen created and funded the entire program from concept to start up, creating 36 new jobs, acquiring full state licensure, and achieving full census within 11 months of operations. Previously, Karen was the Senior Vice President responsible for the operation of eight adolescent treatment programs for a national network for three years. She also has served as Head of School for a struggling co-ed visual and performing arts therapeutic boarding high school of 64 students where she helped turn the program around, increasing census by 60% and achieving full census capacity within one year of bankruptcy. Karen's extensive experience also includes leading a group foster home for abused, abandoned and neglected girls ages 8-17 for four years, a county treatment center for children, adolescents and adults in Texas, day treatment centers in Florida, a 30-bed psychiatric hospital and outpatient centers in California, and consulting for ambulatory behavioral healthcare programs across the country for eight years.

Dr. Fitzhugh earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UCLA, then her masters and Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside. She recently served as a Board Member for the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs for seven years.
