Since its founding in 1968, Eckerd Youth Alternatives has been known for its passionate commitment to giving every child the opportunity to succeed. More than 100,000 youth have been successfully served over the past 43 years. Significant investments in the measurement of performance outcomes have been made over the past three years in order for the organization to not only more precisely quantify the mental health, social skills and educational improvements in the youth served, but also to make more informed decisions based on evidence.

According to pre- and post-testing by ASEBA and Youth Self Report, students at Eckerd Academy's two campuses in Brooksville, FL and Suches, GA are achieving increases in mental health and social skills improvements that are about double what is typically expected in similar behavioral health programs.

In addition, as measured by Woodcock Johnson III pre- and post tests, students at Eckerd Academy are achieving average math, reading and language gains of between 1.6 - 3.3 years in just six months time. These are outstanding academic gains for students who typically were experiencing difficulties in traditional classroom settings prior to admission.

Eckerd Academy is a residential therapeutic boarding school operated by Eckerd Youth Alternatives' Private Care Division that specializes in helping privately referred boys and girls ages 10 - 18 reach their fullest potential. For more information about Eckerd Academy, visit www.eckerd.org or call 800-914-3937. Eckerd is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation, Praesidium and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
