Eckerd Academy of the Blue Ridge is pleased to announce Sara Smithson has joined the Clinical staff as Program Clinician. Sara received her MSW degree from Smith College of School for Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts.
Sara has worked with children and teens in a variety of therapeutic and educational settings over the past nine years, including wilderness therapy guiding, managing and facilitating outdoor adventure, experiential education programming, residential counseling, and teaching English abroad.
Sara's clinical experience includes providing individual, family, and group therapy for diagnostically and demographically diverse clients in outpatient community mental health and early intervention centers.
Sara is excited to bring her experience and love of working with youth and families to Eckerd Academy of the Blue Ridge. "We are very happy to have Sara join our team at Blue Ridge. Her experience and enthusiasm will enhance our clinical and family services tremendously," said Tim McMahon, Director.
Sara spends much of her free time exploring the outdoors by foot, canoe, bike, or skis and also enjoys drawing, writing, and singing in her car.
