Being the Admissions Director of Daniels Academy, Sean Haggerty loves talking about the school and answering educational consultants' and parents' questions about our program. He especially enjoys when a caller reports, "I didn't know that. Wow." This gives him a great chance to share facts about Daniels Academy that otherwise may have gone unnoticed.
Here are 10 things you most likely do not know about Daniels Academy (but you should know).
Our students go on 10 trips a year for service projects and adventure/experiential based growth. Two international trips and eight national trips. (We spent six weeks in Costa Rica this year.)
Each student leaves campus to connect and engage in the community every day.
Our science teacher taught at Harvard. (Yeah, "Hahvahd")
We use a project-based curriculum in our academics.
We provide our students with technology so we can coach moderation with it.
Students are involved in mastery experiences, including but not limited to, skiing/snowboarding, rock climbing, fishing, biking and hiking.
We have three individualized residences to better meet the individual needs of our students. One is specifically designed for students with sensory stimulation issues.
Students can have the opportunity to gain employment. We have local businesses who are specially trained to help meet the individual needs of our students during their employment.
Our new school building is specially designed with student relaxation rooms in each classroom.
Each student has six key staff included in their treatment/coaching team they meet with each week.
Daniels Academy strongly emphasizes the integration of meaningful relationships coupled with clear and concise expectations, and dependable routines and structures. Each component of the Daniels Academy program is designed to support the development of executive functioning and relationship skills. Staff believes in seeing each student individually. Every student receives an individualized education and treatment plan.
Daniels Academyis a small home-style residential program & school that provides academic and emotional support to teenage boys, ages 13-18, with learning differences.
